Spurs 2-1 Soton

Life without Harry Kane started with a win as Tottenham moved nine points clear of neighbours Arsenal and tightened their grasp on a Champions League place.
Goals did not prove a problem despite the absence of top-scorer Kane.
Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli both stepped forward to find the net in the first-half and Vincent Janssen came on to force a fine save from Fraser Forster in the closing minutes.

James Ward-Prowse pulled one back for Saints, who lost Manolo Gabbiadini to injury before half-time, but Spurs held out to take the points.
With 10 games left, they are the closest to runaway leaders Chelsea and in the process of completing their best ever Premier League season.

Eriksen struck first, collecting a short pass from Mousa Dembele, shifting the ball onto his left-foot and curling a low shot past Forster from 25 yards.
